First Fridays Legal Assistance Office Hours and Workshop
Starting a business always involves risk. But many risks can be avoided or managed when new entrepreneurs have access to legal help. UC Berkeley Law School’s New Business Practicum provides low-income entrepreneurs with limited legal services by answering questions, providing template forms and providing guidance for common legal issues.
Workshops are held the first Friday of every month and cover various topics that new businesses face. Come learn about what the law requires when hiring employees, contractors and interns; or how the law can help you protect your company's copyrights, trademarks and other intellectual property. Workshops are held at the UC Merced Venture Lab and can also be viewed live through our Facebook page. Please register to attend this free event.
Office hours are available either in-person, over the phone or through the web every first Friday of the month. All consultations are strictly confidential and covered by attorney-client privilege. Please note that the New Business Practicum cannot provide advice related to patents and complex tax issues, nor can they provide guidance related to acquisitions, real estate, bankruptcy or litigation. Referrals to local attorneys are provided whenever needed.
